Beyond the Label: Is the MSC Driving Progress in Sustainable Fishing?

On July 13 the latest in the Blue Deal Debates series focused on the Marine Stewardship Council and market-based certification asking, Beyond the label: Is the MSC driving progress in sustainable fishing?

Can the MSC ensure a uniform standard for sustainability? How has the MSC ensured public consultation is part of their development?

We were joined by the Marine Stewardship Council’s Camiel Derichs, Programme Development Director, Erin Priddle, Regional Director North Europe, and Rohan Currey, Chief Science and Standards Director to answer these questions and more.

Hosted by former chair of the European Parliament’s fisheries committee, Chris Davies, the series features discussions on the essential need for a European Blue Deal in parallel with the European Green Deal, providing institutional, industrial and environmental stakeholders a platform to debate and answer your questions. We aim to provide you with food for thought from some of Europe’s thought leaders on a challenge that is not going away.
